Derwent's Inktense Pencils

In the February issue of our ArtsyFartsy newsletter, I reviewed Derwent’s Inktense Pencils. There were so many comments about these pencils - I decided to do a follow-up demo. Inktense pencils are watersoluble and they dry permanent. I paint and draw simultaneously while making a painting and this is the stick I use for drawing. They are brilliant and intense.

Here are 6 small drawings I did with Inktense pencils. They act like watersoluble pencils but with very intense colors. I’ve tried them all - this Inktense pencil I love!

Inktense Pencils - up to 72 colors

I draw with a dry pencil then...

Wet with a watercolor brush. It will look like Bombay India ink and have the feel of sumi ink.

Or... wet the paper first. Then draw with the pencil. It bleeds! Cool! video

Bob,
I am aware of the Citra Solv on NG mags but what is Citra Solv on tissue paper? (this was a comment from you on an older post of painting fruit - pears- from framers market)

I bought some inktense pencils several months ago but haven't used them yet. You've motivated me to try them tomorrow.

These pencils are probably in my "top 5" picks of art supplies... I use them all the time. I really like their versatility. The sketches you made with them are fantastic!

Bob, just watched your Derwent pencil video sketch-it was hilarious! I was laughing so hard my sides hurt>>>OMG! Talk about imperfection-great stuff-keep it coming, man! I love the fact you were video taping yourself sketching! I just was surfing the web, came across your blog/video. Now you have inspired me to do some video's myself! Hugs-Deb
